SMEC Enforces Best Practices with Epicor® Solutions

Leading Engineering Consultancy Relies on Epicor for Service Enterprises and Epicor CRM to Streamline Global Project Planning and Management

IRVINE, Calif. and SYDNEY — January 9, 2007 — Epicor Software Corporation (NASDAQ: EPIC), a leading provider of enterprise business software solutions for the midmarket and divisions of the Global 1000, today announced that SMEC, a global leader in high-quality engineering consulting and development solutions, has gone live with the Epicor Customer Relationship Management (CRM) Suite as part of its overall Epicor for Service Enterprises roll-out.  The CRM implementation will allow SMEC to proactively monitor and enforce business, quality and risk management processes during the bidding and engagement process.

The implementation of Epicor for Service Enterprises enabled SMEC to move to a real-time Web-enabled organization across all of its business functions, from new business development and project planning, management and monitoring through to billing and finance. It has streamlined the organization’s global project planning and management capabilities for staff working on over 400 projects in over 80 locations throughout Australia, Asia, Africa, the Middle East and the Pacific.

SMEC has now deployed the Epicor CRM Opportunity and Bid Management module, a subset solution of the Epicor for Service Enterprises suite, which will assist the organization to proactively structure comprehensive service bids, forecast bookings and revenue, and capture pre-sale costs throughout tender bid periods.  Epicor CRM has been configured to guide each user through the business processes and approval steps required for engaging in low-risk and profitable projects.

SMEC, originally Snowy Mountains Engineering Corporation and established under Act of Parliament in 1970 as an agency of the Commonwealth Government, is one of the leading engineering and development consultancies in the world.  Corporatized in 1989 and privatized by sale to the staff in 1993, it provides multidisciplinary consulting services in engineering, project management, environmental science and development activities.

Epicor for Service Enterprises is the first Enterprise Service Automation (ESA) solution for mid-sized, project-based organizations, built using Microsoft .NET technology and enabled by the solution’s service-oriented architecture (SOA) for rapid development of Web services applications.  It is part of a series of vertically focused Epicor Enterprise solutions designed to meet the unique needs of businesses striving to achieve maximum efficiency in highly specific industries.

“Epicor enables us to make a number of strategic advances assisting us to move from working with reactive and historical information systems to one where we can access and create data in real-time using facts on the ground.  We expect it to help us improve our contract win rates, increase revenue and hence improve our overall cash flow,” said Peter Busbridge, chief executive officer of SMEC.
