Farmatodo Uses Oracle® Retail Applications to Enable Global Growth Strategy
South American Pharmacy Chain Deploys Oracle® Retail Applications to Improve Customer Service, Enable Retail Best Practices and Optimize Performance
REDWOOD SHORES, Calif. 01-NOV-2006 South American pharmacy chain Farmatodo C.A. has deployed Oracle(r) Retail Merchandising applications to support the company’s expansion goals, Oracle announced today. Farmatodo is using the Oracle Retail Merchandising System, including Oracle Retail Price Management and Oracle Retail Warehouse Management, to improve customer service and increase sales and performance across its 121 locations in Venezuela. As Farmatodo adds new locations throughout South America, the Oracle Retail applications enable the company to bring new stores online quickly and provide a consistent, high level of customer service at each location.
The Oracle Retail implementation is part of Farmatodo’s strategy for improving customer service, efficiency and sales while adding 10 to 15 stores per year. Prior to implementing Oracle Retail applications, Farmatodo used a retail solution suite that was modified to fit the unique demands of Venezuelan commerce law. Maintenance and upgrades to the customized system were costly and labor intensive, creating a drain on corporate resources and slowing new store expansions. Farmatodo’s management team upgraded its core merchandising system and related retail applications as part of widespread improvements that included store design, brand management, pricing, merchandising, supply chain operations and logistics.
Farmatodo selected Oracle Retail because its out-of-the-box functionality easily fit the commerce landscape and the system scaled from store to corporate-level enterprise requirements. The system also provided the data and analytical capability required to drive profitable growth.
In May, Farmatodo deployed part of the merchandising and price applications and the full warehouse management application. Oracle Retail Price Management has helped Farmatodo bypass spreadsheet-based price planning for an automated platform that enables the retailer to implement prices at a regional level. Oracle Retail Warehouse Management has improved the volume and speed of creating shipments, reducing in-store inventory without losing sales because of depleted stock. The automation has also helped Farmatodo reallocate warehouse staff to other needs.
The company will continue to deploy additional Oracle Retail applications, including supply chain optimization, demand forecasting, allocation, store inventory management solutions and point of sale among others.
“The Oracle Retail solutions are helping us provide greater value to our customers, employees and shareholders,” said Erasmo J. Moreno, Farmatodo’s CIO. “Oracle is a fundamental part of our global growth strategy and best practices throughout Farmatodo.”
“Farmatodo is using Oracle Retail applications to transform their core operations, from store pricing to supply chain operations,” said Dan Stoks, Senior Vice President Global Sales and Consulting, Oracle Retail. “The result is greater value for customers and for shareholders. In many regards, Farmatodo is an ideal Oracle Retail customer and we are excited to be a part of their growing success.”
