Sage MAS 500 ERP Smoothes Distribution with New Warehouse Automation Module

Irvine, Calif. - Sage Software announced today the addition of a new Warehouse Automation module to its award-winning Sage MAS 500 ERP business management solution. The Warehouse Automation module is ideal for distribution companies taking advantage of the dwindling cost of wireless networking equipment to improve the efficiency of their warehouse operations. By supporting handheld barcode scanners and radio frequency (RF) communications with the core Sage MAS 500 ERP system, the Warehouse Automation module greatly improves data entry accuracy, increasing workflow throughout the entire organization.

Sage MAS 500 with Warehouse Automation simplifies data entry by automating routine warehouse tasks, including Receipt of Goods; Warehouse Transfers; Bin Transfers; Sales Returns; Cycle Counts; Physical Counts; and Picking, Packing and Shipping. The Warehouse Automation module seamlessly integrates with Sage MAS 500 ERP system, which validates data collected by handheld scanners and maintains real time updates to a single database. In the event the Sage MAS 500 Server or RF connection is temporarily lost, users can work offline and information captured by the handheld device can be uploaded when the connection is re-established.

“The cost of Wi-Fi equipment continues to fall and is generating more investment by small and mid-sized business owners in the infrastructure that supports warehouse automation,” said Jim Portner, Sage Software vice president and general manager for Sage MAS products. “Our new Warehouse Automation module will enable more and more distributors to leverage their investments in technology as a true competitive advantage.”

Also available with the release of Warehouse Automation is the Barcode LabelXpert Designer module for creating barcode labels for inventory items; packaging cartons and containers; warehouse racks, shelves, and bins; as well as other applications. A flexible labeling tool, LabelXpert Designer works with both laser and thermal printers and includes label templates that can be modified, plus the capability to design custom templates. The LabelXpert Designer is available as a stand alone module for distributors who need to comply with customer labeling mandates, but do not wish to automate their own warehouse.

Handheld devices supported by the Warehouse Automation module include the Intermec CN2 Series, the Intermec 700 Series and the Intermec CK60 Series plus any handheld device utilizing Microsoft CE.NET or Windows Mobile 2003/2005 operating systems.
