Promethean, a World Leader in Collaborative Learning Technologies, Selects ERP from SSA Global
LONDON - June 29, 2006 – SSA Global (NASDAQ: SSAG), a leading global provider of enterprise business software and services, today announced that Promethean Technologies is to adopt the SSA GlobalÔ enterprise resource planning (ERP) solution across their worldwide operations. A phased roll out will commence at Promethean’s UK headquarters in Blackburn, followed by implementations in China, France, Germany and the United States.
Promethean has established itself as a global developer of collaborative classroom systems. Its product portfolio includes interactive whiteboards, voting hand sets and wireless slates that have revolutionized learning. With a presence in classrooms across 70 countries, Promethean technology is reaching millions of teachers and students worldwide and expansion looks set to continue.
As a result of this growth, Promethean identified a need to upgrade and replace its ERP systems in order to improve visibility of global management information and streamline processes. To ensure the most effective solution, an independent consultant conducted a review during which several vendors were assessed. The review process lasted ten months and resulted in the appointment of SSA Global.
Commenting on the decision, Promethean Group chief financial officer Neil Johnson said: “The key factors in our selection of SSA ERPLNÔ were the capability of the software, the fact that it requires no customization and the company’s worldwide reach. From a cost minimizing perspective, it was very important that SSA ERPLN could be implemented internationally without the need for modification and that the solution was scalable. As part of the assessment process, SSA Global conducted their “Framework for Excellence” (SSA FFE) methodology. SSA FFE is a business consulting offering that engages ‘C’ level executives at the beginning of the review process and helps them identify their business problems and select the best solution to meet their needs. SSA FFE is focused on delivering returns in the shortest possible time.
According to Malcolm Tinkler, SSA Global’s vice president for Northern Europe, the SSA FFE process was a critical factor in Promethean’s selection of SSA Global’s ERPLN solution, as it involved senior management from the outset. “Having identified their key requirements, Promethean set about an in-depth assessment process which resulted in the selection of the SSA GlobalÔ solution. We look forward to working with Promethean on this worldwide rollout and helping achieve maximum return on their investment,” said Malcolm Tinkler.
